Google Pixel 10 Series: What Mobile Repair Shops Need to Know

The Google Pixel 10 series was officially launched in August and this year brings not only the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL, but also a new foldable: the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. For consumers, the focus is often on new features and design, but for mobile repair shops, the questions are different: How easy is this device to repair? What should you prepare for? In this blog, we give you an overview of what the Pixel 10 series means for your repair business.

Key Upgrades of the Pixel 10 Series

The Pixel 10 models are equipped with the new Tensor G5 chip, a larger battery (the standard Pixel 10 even has 4,970 mAh), and support Qi2 wireless charging with magnetic Pixelsnap accessories. What really stands out for repair technicians is the new pull jacket battery system. This makes it much easier to remove the battery, no more fiddling with stubborn glue and significantly less risk of damage.

The pull jacket is basically a kind of casing around the battery with a handy pull tab. Instead of prying or cutting away glue, you simply pull the tab and the battery comes out cleanly.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold: The New Challenge

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold was announced on August 20, 2025, and will be available in stores starting October 9. This means having the right tools on hand. Below is a list of the tools you’ll need to safely open and repair the Pixel 10 Pro Fold:

Precision Torx and Torx Plus screwdrivers: Google uses different Torx sizes, including on the Fold.
Thin opening tools & plastic picks: needed to safely separate the delicate foldable screen and back panel.
Heat gun: the Fold has extra adhesive and sealing around the hinge and inner display layer.
Anti-static mat & wrist strap: because you’re working very close to sensitive components and cables.
Microscope: to clearly see the narrow cables and connectors in the hinge area.

Tips for Your Repair Shop

Keep stock: Start stocking the new batteries (pull jacket) early and be prepared for demand for Qi2 accessories.
Invest in tools: The standard models require fewer screw types, but the Fold needs specific tools for the hinge and display.
